The Institut français d’Ecosse has 4 major aims:
- To promote French language, by providing a high quality range of French courses for everyone, including enterprises.
- To promote French culture in Scotland, by programming ambitious, inventive events in and outside its building in Edinburgh. Thanks to film screenings, art exhibitions, concerts, artistic performances, and various other cultural events, the IFE aims to be a centre for French Culture on the Scottish stage.
- To encourage cross-cultural exchange between France and Scotland, in cooperation with Scottish Francophile institutions.
- To develop exchanges between France and Scotland in Education: that is the reason why it also hosts in its premises the Education Office for Scotland.
We are publicly funded by the French Government, but in order to maintain and continue to offer a high quality, original, inventive programme of events we still rely on donations and sponsorship to help make it all possible.
