Her recently published UK debut The Child Who is a poetic exploration of grief, intergenerational silences, and nature’s power to heal. She will discuss it with her translator Bill Johnston.

About the author
Jeanne Benameur was born in Algeria to Tunisian and Italian parents, and raised in France. She is a prolific writer of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and plays, winning multiple national and regional awards, such as the UNICEF Prize for her debut novella Les Demeurées, and the Grand Prix RTL-Lire for her novel Profanes. Her work has been translated into many languages, including Ukrainian and Lithuanian, and several of her works have been adapted to the screen. Her latest book in English is The Child Who (translated by Bill Johnston).
About the translator
Bill Johnston is a Professor of comparative literature at Indiana University and prolific Polish language literary translator. He is ntoable for exposing English-speaking readers to classic and contemporary Polish poetry and fiction. He was awarded both Best Translated Book Award and the PEN Translation Prize. In 2008 he received the Found in Translation Award for his translation of new poems by Tadeusz Różewicz, a finalist for the National Books Critics Circle Poetry Award.
