How and why did Edgar Degas become so inspired by ballet dancers? Was it their movement, the stage lighting on their bright costumes or casting shadows on their skin? Did they present a wonderful opportunity for Degas’ experimentation in his work?
We shall spend time looking at his wonderful depictions of dancers in every aspect of their dance lives and discuss these questions.
