World War I is often presented as the result of a mechanism that led to the first major conflict of the 20th Century. But does this perfectly smooth mechanism truly reflect the reality of 1914? Could this war have been avoided? At the beginning of the year commemorating the First World War Centenary, our Café Histoire is going back over several major events of 1914.
