UNE LONGUE GESTATION
The French Third Republic was established on 4 September 1870, after the French defeat in the Battle of Sedan in the Franco-Prussian War. But it took five years to the members of Parliament to finally adopt it. After them, the French would definitely accept this new form of government. What are the reasons of such a long gestation? Could this long time in gestation explain the success of its establishment after two failed attempts?
