Film synopsis
More than a decade ago, French actor, director, writer, composer and comedian Alexandre Astier started a TV series called Kaamelott (the spelling is deliberately awry). As if you hadn’t guessed it’s a spoofy retelling of the legend of King Arthur and his knights. Hidden in Rome, King Arthur plans his comeback to oppose the army of his former friend Lancelot. The series ended more than ten years ago, but its popularity endures. Kaamelott is often described as France’s equivalent of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, (there are certain similarities – and also with the Gallic time travelling comedy hit and its sequels Les Visiteurs with Jean Reno. The director hopes to continue with a sequel and may even make a trilogy.
