Wednesday 25 September 14:00-16:00

Wednesday 25 September 18:45-20:45

The cinema programme at the Institut français d’Ecosse screens a new film every Wednesday at 2:00pm and 6:45pm. These events are free, but for members only. We invite you to book early and if you are not yet a member of the Institut français d’Ecosse, we invite you to join. Our film this week is Les Grands Esprits by Olivier Ayache-Vidal (2017, 1h46min).

Synopsis:
François Foucault, in his forties, is a professeur agrégé de lettres—a highly skilled and trained teacher—at the lycée Henri IV in Paris. A series of events forces him to accept a year-long transfer to a middle school in the banlieue, which has been categorised as an underprivileged and underachieving school (REP, or Réseau d’éducation prioritaire). He dreads the worst. And rightly so.

Starring Denis Podalydès, Abdoulaye Diallo, Tabono Tandia, and Léa Drucker
