The French Institute in Scotland is proud to be partnering with the French Film Festival UK for a screening of their Short Cuts selection!

Screening will be introduced by a member of the French Film Festival UK and followed by a Q&A with Julien Lonchamp, director and composer of The Day Before.

At dawn on a Casablanca beach, a man goes across the sand with a metal detector, alone. He sifts the sand but finds nothing. As the light increases joggers and dog walkers appear but seem oblivious to the solitary figure.

By Edinburgh-based French director Julien Longchamp. Young office worker Ian is somewhat unrealistic about things. This is his last day in his dull office job before he heads off for his summer holiday. Completely absorbed by this prospect, he spends his time daydreaming, every detail of his bleak office environment turning into one of the delights to come. However, Ian’s expectations begin to take on a life of their own.
