About 4 Times Baroque:

Jan Nigges (recorder)
Jonas Zschenderlein (violin)
Karl Simko (cello)
Alexander von Heißen (harpsichord)

«Popstars of the early music scene» or «four young shooting stars. » are some of the ways, in which the press describes 4 Times Baroque. Based in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) the quartet is one of the most exciting ensembles of the new generation of early music performers. As part of the Eeemerging program (Emerging European Ensembles), the quartet receives support from several early music centres throughout Europe, participating in concerts and residencies in France, Poland, Latvia, Germany, and Italy.

Dedicated to developing a close rapport with their audience, 4 Times Baroque provides musical and historical backdrops to their programs by via entertaining concert talks and discussions, allowing the public to keep up with the last updates from the ensemble’s work. The musicians carried out their close friendship bonds into their professional careers, making their unique rapport palpable on stage through their various performances at the well-known festivals and concert halls throughout Germany and Europe, such as Germany as Rheingau Musik Festival, Thüringer Bachwochen, Oberstdorfer Musiksommer, Mozartfest Würzburg, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Händel Festspiele Göttingen, Festival d’Ambronay (France), Meraner Musikwochen (Italy), Mozarteum Salzburg (Austria).

Highlights in 2020 include concerts in Istanbul, Edinburg, at the Telemann Festtage Magdeburg, Bachfest Leipzig and in Japan. For their concert at the second edition of Harpsichord en fête, 4 Times Baroque will perform pieces from their award-winning first CD “Caught in Italian Virtuosity” (Deutsche Harmonia Mundi / Sony). The next CD includes works from J.S. Bach and G.F. Telemann and is coming soon this year.
