CANCELLED Opening Concert & Reception - John Kitchen & Sally Carr

John Kitchen and Sally Carr are delighted to open the 2nd edition of “Harpsichord en fête” with a concert programme including Louis Couperin, Henry Purcell and G.F. Handel among others. About John Kitchen
John Kitchen is an Honorary Fellow in the Reid School of Music, the University of Edinburgh. He is University Organist and is much involved with the Collections of Early Keyboard Instruments at St Cecilia’s Hall. John is also Director of Music at Old Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church and Edinburgh City Organist with performing and curatorial duties at the Usher Hall. He gives many solo recitals both in the UK and further afield, and also plays regularly with several ensembles, covering a wide range of musical styles. In addition, he is much in demand as a continuo player, accompanist, tutor, lecturer, writer, adjudicator, reviewer and recording artist. In July 2019 John was elected President of the Incorporated Association of Organists, with the task of organising their national Festival which takes place in Edinburgh in July 2020.

About Sally Carr:
Sally Car was educated at St Mary’s Music School and the University of Edinburgh. Sally studies singing with Susan Hamilton, and currently works as a performer and teacher in central Scotland. She has been the recipient of both the Tovey Memorial Prize and the Janet Buckley Memorial prize promoted annually by the Reid School of Music. She is an alumna of the renowned UK young artist programme ’Genesis 16’ and is a member of ’echo’, an ensemble that comprises graduate Genesis members. She is part of a duo with clarinettist Calum Robertson, with whom she has performed various contemporary works and commissions throughout Scotland. She has appeared on several occasions with Edinburgh Studio Opera: as Julia Bertram in Jonathan Dove’s Mansfeild Park and most recently as Belinda in their 50th—anniversary production of Dido and Aneas. In September she will begin studying for a Masters degree in vocal performance.
