Concours d’Ecriture

From 26 November 2020 to 20 December 2020

Each year the French Institute in Scotland, the Franco-Scottish Society (Edinburgh Branch), the Goethe Institut in Glasgow and Edinburgh College organise a Concours d’Ecriture (creative writing contest in French and German) with students across different universities in Scotland with the help of Sylvain Blanche, French teacher at Edinburgh Napier University, the University of Edinburgh and the French Institute in Scotland.

This year, students from Edinburgh Napier University, the University of Edinburgh, the University of St Andrews and the University of Stirling have taken part and you will find below the different texts created by the students.

The texts created have then been translated into visuals and posters by the Graphic design students of Edinburgh College with the help of Chris Hughes, Design Lecturer, Creative Industries at Edinburgh College.

The French Institute in Scotland usually hosts an exhibition within its building highlighting the winning texts. Due to the current circumstances, the exhibition will be virtual this year and accessible both online on our cultural blog and through our social media platforms, but also on the screens of the Institute’s lobby for everyone to see.

The winners of the contest will be announced by members of the Franco-Scottish Society and the Goethe Institut via a virtual ceremony on Thursday 26 November 2020 at 16:00 on Facebook Live (you can also view the ceremony on our Youtube channel).

Discover all the texts and visuals of all participants on our blog!

All texts and visuals have been gathered into a printed recueil, available to see at the Institute or online here
