Edinburgh International Festival

From 3 to 27 August


This summer, France is brought into the limelight at the Edinburgh International Festival with a special residency of the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord bringing 3 daring works to the Scottish capital: Peter Brook’s The Prisoner, The Beggar’s Opera staged by Robert Carsen with the Baroque ensemble Les Arts Florissants, and La Maladie de la mort by Katie Mitchell. Other highlights include The Barber of Seville staged by Laurent Pelly, Rossini’s with the Opera de Lyon Orchestra and 3 concerts by acclaimed French pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard, artist in residence at this year’s festival.
