Dear Headteachers, French
Teachers and French Assistants,
The Institut Français d’Ecosse is holding
its annual inter-school drama competition in French. The
aim of the event is to promote the learning of French
language through a recreational way.
Helped by their teachers and French assistants, the pupils
perform a short play in French which may be taken from
an original play, adapted from another type of text (novel,
short story, poem, tale), or created for the occasion.
For primary classes (P3 to P7), the play must last no
less than 5 and no more than 15 minutes.
For secondary classes (S1 to S6), the play must last no
less than 10 and no more than 15 minutes.
This year, les Rencontres Théâtrales for
both primary and secondary classes, will take place in
the following cities (the dates are not finalized and
are subject to change but they are likely to remain in
the same week):
- Glasgow, on Tuesday 16 March 2010 (Whitehill Secondary
School, 240 Onslow Drive
Glasgow G31 2QF),
- Edinburgh, on Thursday 18 March 2010 (venue to be confirmed).
Technical details about the stage and facilities will
be available closer to the dates on: www.ifecosse.org.uk/education/events
The jury will consist of Scottish and French personalities
involved in the teaching and artistic professions. Performances
will be judged on interpretation, creativity, quality
of production (direction, costumes, props, etc.).
