Every year
since 1982, the Institut Français d'Ecosse has celebrated
the Fête de la Musique in Edinburgh.
This 2008 edition promises to be even more diverse with
the the French, Danish, Italian and Goethe Institutes
and the Irish Consulate all providing performers. A
group from each of these countries will be performing
on 21 June.
The patron of this year's event is Stéphane Denève,
the renowned French conductor of the Royal Scottish
National Orchestra.
Following
the French tradition, the Fête de la Musique is open
to all amateurs and professional musicians, and all
artistic forms with no preference given to any particular
genre.
From Germany,
contemporary jazz by the Clarinet Trio to the Irish
Songs of Mélanie O’Reilly; from the African
Rhythms of Asazispace Funk Explosion to the alternative
rock of Reiser, passing through Italy with baroque music
from Luca Marconato (lute and theorbo) and soprano Cristina
Cappellini. All tastes will be catered for!
So come
and enjoy !
