Sangue Vivo Ensamble: (Italy) South Italian folk music This musical group has been created by a group of Italian musicians living in Edinburgh with the aim of maintaining links, through music, with their home regions. The group offers a journey through the folk music of the regions of the south of Italy, in particular Apulia. The musicians, in fact, take their name from the film Sangue Vivo by Edoardo Winspeare, which was shot in the Salento area (in the south of the Apulia region – the well- known “heel” of Italy) and which has contributed enormously to the spread of the dance known as the Pizzica, which is performed to the obsessive rhythm of the tambourine.
