About Fugacités

Created in 1992, Le Concert de l’Hostel Dieu is a major figure of the French baroque scene. The ensemble is distinguished by a sensitive and dynamic interpretation of the vocal and instrumental repertoire of the 18th century, systematically favouring a historical and philological approach. Under the direction of Franck-Emmanuel Comte, it defends the originality and specificity of a regional repertoire by promoting the Baroque manuscripts kept in the regional libraries. Transposing the richness and diversity of Baroque music into our time is also one of the main artistic axes of the ensemble. It thus provokes the meeting of Baroque aesthetics with cultures and artists from diverse backgrounds with the ambition of renewing the concert form and raising awareness among new audiences. FugaCités is an encounter between baroque music and urban cultures. A poetic variation with multiple inspirations, a crea- tive dialogue between the instrumentalists of the Concert de l’Hostel Dieu and the dancer Jérôme Oussou, choreographed by Mourad Merzouki. With fluidity and poetry, Mourad Merzouki imagined this choreographed concert by closely associating the musicians with the dancer. Jérôme Oussou’s hip-hop and baroque melodies play on the centuries that separate them in a timeless exchange. A touch of humour completes the dreamlike universe that characterizes Mourad Merzouki’s shows.
