Created in 1982 the ‘Fête de la musique’ is now an established tradition in France taking place on the 21st of June. On that very special day, every musician – amateur or professional – comes out onto the streets, the squares, and the cafés to perform for free.
The Institut français is delighted to celebrate this tradition and to open its doors to the amateur and professional musicians of Edinburgh for a day of musical celebration! The first part of the event will be dedicated to budding Edinburgh-based musicians performing in both the bistrot and the theatre. Then the professional musicians will take up the stage for a handful of pop gigs.
