Summer is finally here and we feel happy as a lark! While birds are singing outside, come along and celebrate with us la fête de la musique! In acoustic or orchestra version, with guitars, harps or violins, music will resonate across the house with international bands such as Jack and The’, The New Beans, and more!

La Petite École

Parenthèse (association) - Wed 8 June

For the last Parenthèse of the year, Pauline Ah-Hot shares the human and pedagogical adventure of La Petite École, an Edinburgh-based association dedicated to encourage and promote bilingualism among kids between 3 and 12 who speak French at home.

Exhibition - 10 June to 23 July

Two different countries and yet a common visual sensitivity. In this photography exhibition, light, textures and shapes are seen from a Scottish and a French perspectives that dialogue together to produce poetic and dazzling combinations of pictures.

The year is almost over so let’s treat ourselves and break the routine! Join photographers Cégolène Frisque and Douglas McBride for a guided tour of their exhibition Étranges convergences, and enjoy a very special screening of the sweet and beautiful animated French film U. All free, évidemment!

From the Dreyfus case to the 1920 Tours congress, from the creation of the Front populaire to the turmoil of WW2, follow the steps of Léon Blum, one of the key figures of French political scene in the first half of the 20th century.

Patria Obscura

Cinéma – Tue 14 & Wed 15 June

Stéphane Ragot captures the lives of his grandfathers, both killed during WW2. Through the intimate story of his relatives, he will also meet a nation’s memory and identity. We are very happy to welcome director Stéphane Ragot and producer Laurence Braunberger who will take part in a Q&A following each screening.

Look again: a celebration of the Films of Cinéma du look

Edinburgh International Film Festival

Goodbye Cannes, bonjour Edinburgh International Film Festival! This year’s programme includes great pieces of French cinema and pays tribute to the Cinéma du look, the French film movement of the 80s, with seven grand films and notably the presence of actor Dominique Pinon.

French gigs at Edinburgh Jazz Festival

Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival

The Jazz Festival is filling the air with trumpets, saxophone, piano... And some French notes too! From the swinging sextet Hot Antic Jazz Band and their hot music of Chicago in the 1920’s, to the rising star Cyrille Aimée , zooming brightly through a mix of standards, gypsy swing and Michael Jackson tunes, you will definitely get some French vibes this July!
