The French Film Festival UK celebrates its 20th anniversary this year (8 - 30 November) with a programme bigger and stronger than ever before ! As a long standing supporter of ’La Fete du Cinema’ over the years, we are pleased to accompany this important edition with ’The Universe of Jacques Demy’ a season dedicated to the French director that will get you in the mood for the upcoming feast of French cinema!

Agnès Varda married filmmaker Jacques Demy in 1962, a partnership that lasted until his death in 1990. Jacquot de Nantes is Varda’s sweet homage to the life and career of her dying husband, using recreations from Demy’s memories and autobiographical notebooks, interviews with him and clips from his films.

Jacquot Demy is a little boy at the end of the 1930s. His father owns a garage and his mother is a hairdresser, while Jacquot is fascinated by cinema and theatre and buys a camera to shoot his first amateur film...
