Jazz, the French Songbook

Tuesday 28 November 19:00-21:30

Jazz duo pianist Cédric Hanriot and bassist Bertrand Beruard are revisiting a number of popular French songs (Brel, Piaf, Delpech, Nougaro) and rebuilding them in the jazz piano duo context whilst preserving the essence of each song and illustrating their love of Afro-American music.

Their set includes French classics such as;
La chanson des vieux amants by Jacques Brel
La javanaise by Serge Gainsbourg
Un beau roman by Michel Delpech
Le jazz et la java by Claude Nougaro
and more…

Cédric Hanriot, an assiduous creater, dares the invigorating alchemy of composite and resolute contemporary jazz. A music of scintillating colours, illuminated by the sounds of strings and electronica, that never defy a clear, determined passion for France’s popular melodies.
