Lending regulations

All documents may be borrowed with the exception of those situated in the reference section and the latest issue of magazines.

Borrowing rights are reserved for members of the Institute only. Please visit our Become a Member page for more details and tariffs.

Loans for standard membership cardholders

> 6 books
> 6 CDs
> 6 magazines (except latest issue)
> 2 CD-ROMs
> 2 documentaries (DVDs)
> 2 films (DVDs)

Loans for family membership cardholders

As for ‘standard’ x 2

Loans for school membership cardholders

> 12 books
> 12 CDs and 12 magazines (except latest issue)
> 4 CD-ROMs
> 4 documentaries (DVDs)

Loan period

One week for fiction films and three weeks for all other documents

Postal loans

> 3 items between books, magazines and CDs
> 2 DVDs
> Loan period: 3 weeks

We are now offering our members who live in the UK a postal loans service. This service is charged in addition to your membership fee. Each postal loan consists of up to 3 items between CDs, magazines and books + 2 DVDs for 3 weeks.

You can choose amongst 3 different options (all renewable during the membership year) the one that will best suit your needs:
- £10: 4 postal loans per membership year
- £20: 8 postal loans per membership year
- £30: 12 postal loans per membership year

Please note that is is your responsibility to pay for the items to be returned to the Library in time for its due date. Items may be renewed if not recalled by another user.

Items on loan may be renewed no more than twice by phone, by email or in person providing no one else has reserved them.

Rates: > For lost or damaged items:
fixed rate of £10 per item.

Card block:
Patrons with a fine of £10 will not be allowed to borrow, renew or request items until payment has been received.
