Parenthèse (Musique et Histoire) | The Influence of Irish poetry on Berlioz’s Melodies

To mark St. Patrick’s day, the French Institute features a talk by Dr Mary Breatnach, former member of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Lecturer (now Honorary Fellow) in French Studies at the University of Edinburgh. The talk explores the influence of the poet, Irish Thomas Moore, best known for his Irish Melodies, on the work of one of the great figures of French Romanticism, the composer Hector Berlioz.
