Drawings and paintings by Philippe Lagautrière

Philippe Lagautrière is a French painter and illustrator (Ivry-sur-Seine, 1953) who counts among the new talents to emerge in the 80s along with Speedy Graphito, the Ripoulin brothers, Jérôme Mesnager and Hervé di Rosa. Figures of the ‘Figuration libre’ generation, these artists are distinguished by an intense creativity and a strong desire to conquer public spaces.

Since more than 30 years, he has collected and made his own pads with which he has created a unique universe full of poesy, ingeniousness but also tumult. Very in tune with his time, Lagautrière finds his inspiration in books, gardens, mythologies…, and his Parisian studio in La Ruche, the famous artistic breeding ground, where he succeeded Marc Chagall.

This exhibition includes new and existing drawings and a large wall painting made especially by the artist for the occasion.
