Special Screening - Napoléon (1927)

Monday 4 December 18:00-20:00

The Institut français d’Écosse presents a special screening of Part 1 of Abel Gance’s iconic masterpiece Napoléon (1927) in association with AMOPA (Association des Membres de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques) and the University of Edinburgh.

Napoléon, Part 1: ‘The Collège de Brienne’; ‘The French Revolution’

Visually stunning and boldly experimental, Abel Gance’s acclaimed silent epic traces the French Emperor’s rise to power. Newly restored with an orchestral score by Carl Davis, Napoléon offers one of the most engrossing, surprisingly modern, experiences of French cinema.

The screening will be introduced by Marion Schmid, Professor of French Literature and Film, University of Edinburgh and Professor Philip Bennett, President, AMOPA-Écosse.
