Both inaugurated in 1947, the Edinburgh International Festival and the Institut français d’Écosse, have always worked in cooperation to bring the best of French arts to the Edinburgh festivals. The Institut français has been a historic and committed partner of the Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe Festival.
