Books & Ideas

Once a month, the reading group meets up to discuss a couple of books selected in advance (from classical to contemporary French literature) and discovers other members’ views on them. Meetings take place at the Institut français d’Écosse, usually on the last Tuesday of the month.

About the book :

Paris, 1920s, a veteran is tasked with finding a soldier who disappeared in 1917. Scouring the battlefields, interviewing witnesses and soldiers, he will discover, amidst a thousand stories, each more incredible than the last, the crazy love story that the young man experienced in the middle of Hell. As the investigation progresses, France draws closer to a new war and our hero throws himself headlong into this desperate mission, which has become his only source of hope in a world that is collapsing.
