Since 2011, the Institut français d’Écosse has participated in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival through its “Vive le Fringe!” program, which showcases a discerning and eclectic selection of theatre, music, dance, and contemporary performance works from France and beyond.
Located at the top of the Royal Mile in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, the French Institute enjoys a central and strategic position within one of the world’s largest performing arts festivals.
To promote the international reach of artists from Normandy, the Normandy Region and ODIA Normandie—a regional agency dedicated to the development of the performing arts—have partnered with the Institut français d’Écosse for “MILLENIUM 2027 – The European Year of the Normans“.
As part of this initiative, “Vive le Fringe!” will spotlight Normandy on the international stage by offering three Normandy-based companies the exceptional opportunity to participate in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2027. This collaboration will help boost the international visibility of three contemporary creative groups from Normandy while strengthening cultural ties between France, the United Kingdom, and Scotland in particular.
Through this showcase, the program aims to highlight the richness and diversity of Normandy’s performing arts scene, while fully aligning with the European momentum driven by “MILLENIUM 2027”.
The 2027 edition of the festival will take place throughout the month of August. Applicant companies must be able to perform for at least three full weeks, including one day off per week (usually Mondays).
