Paula was born in Yorkshire and moved to Scotland 35 years ago to study midwifery. She brought many Scottish babies into the world before becoming an author. Oranges and Lemons was her writing ‘baby’ as it was her first novel-length story to be published. Her work has featured in a variety of publications including Aquila magazine for children. She is currently finishing her degree with the Open University while writing her second novel.
Maura is a Scottish author of children’s historical novels. Vikings and Skylarks on Cumbrae explores the story of a young Scots girl and a Danish boy living on the island off the west coast of Scotland. The Battle of Largs in 1263 will decide their fate. Smugglers’ Midnight Escape is set in the 1760s, after the Battle of Culloden, when King George III hyper-taxed the local people when they traded with France and the colonies. Both novels are based on true events. Before writing, Maura was a depute head teacher. She writes a quarterly blog and contributes regularly to the Herald Scotland.
