“Anamaria Vartolomei impresses as ‘Last Tango In Paris’ star Maria Schneider in Jessica Palud’s sensitive biopic” Screen Daily

Maria Schneider, on the cusp of adulthood, stars in the cult classic “Last Tango in Paris.” Unprepared, she’s thrust into fame, becoming an iconic actress amidst glory and scandal.

The 6pm screening will be followed by a discussion organized by the students of the Edinburgh International University Film Festival who will invite Rebecca Mahar, Intimacy Director & Coordinator, and Debi, theatre-maker, director and artist working in Scotland, to discuss the topics of the film.

Being Maria introduces a young hopeful Maria Schneider ready to take on the film industry as an upcoming actress. What should have been the beginning of her dream life quickly turns to a nightmare as she completes her first major role. Maria Schneider’s story is a cautionary tale that still rings relevant to this day. Following developments and the aftermath of the #metoo movement there continues to be progress towards a more equal and ethical practice within the creative industries. EIUFF have invited panelists with specific insight on the topic of approaching creative work responsibly and ethically as well as their experiences of working as intimacy coordinators.
