Calling all young readers, curious minds, and budding storytellers! Join us for a magical celebration of books, imagination, linguistic diversity and creativity at the Children’s Book Festival at the Institut français d’Écosse!

 

10h30-11h30 : Alastair Chisholm, Author

Supported by the French Institute

Alastair will focus on his most recent picture books: Moira Coo: The Highland Coo Who Flew, Space Pirate Bears, One Cheeky Octopus, One Silly Sausage Dog (coming in August 2025). The presentation will be followed by a storytelling and Drawing Activity.

11h45-12h30: Vineet Lal, Translator French into English

Bilingual reading with Vineet Lal (French/ English) of Plume (by Isabelle Simler), Des oiseaux plein la tête (by Alexandra Garibal) and Hiro (by Marine Schneider). Vineet will talk about the challenges of the translation of children’s books.

13h-14h: Debi Gliori, Author and Illustrator

Supported by the Italian Institute

Debi will show and discuss images of her artwork and award winning book No Matter What. In this beautiful and lyrical picture book, we see a clever and resourceful mother prove to her child that a parent love is limitless – no matter what.

Kazia will focus on her books for young children: This Bonny Baby, I am a very Clever cat, I am Actually a Penguin
