A celebration of French music, film and wine!

Artists from France and the UK come to Edinburgh for five events at Stockbridge Music Hub. 

 

Saturday 16th March

Internationally renowned Scottish pianist Steven Osborne will play a programme of Debussy and Ravel. 

He will be joined by friends and fellow local musicians, Greg Lawson, Jean Johnson and Clea Friend.

Sunday 17th March

François Truffaut’s first feature film from 1959, Les Quatre Cent Coups (to live a wild life) is the semi-autobiographical story of a neglected young boy in Paris who rebels against the rules at home and school in search of his freedom and creativity.  An ode to Paris and to the awakening of a new vision of cinema, La Nouvelle Vague, Truffaut’s masterpiece celebrates the tenderness and rebellion of coming of age. (The film will be subtitled)

Tuesday 19th March

International Scottish chanteuse, Taylor Wilson, will perform her cabaret show, “Paris in a Glass”, with pianist/musical director, Karen MacIver. A selection of songs made famous by Piaf, Dietrich, Trenet, Eartha Kitt and others.

Friday 22nd March

The exciting young piano trio from Paris, Zarathustra, will perform a concert of French music. 

The seminal trio by Maurice Ravel will be programmed with works by Debussy and Fauré.

Saturday 23rd March

A family concert of Carnival of the Animals with words written and spoken by local author Sir Alexander McCall Smith.

The ensemble will be a collaboration of local professional players and the Zarathustra Trio.
