Once a month, the reading group meets up to discuss a couple of books selected in advance (from classical to contemporary French literature) and discovers other members’ views on them. Meetings are taking place at the Institut français d’Écosse, usually on the last Tuesday of the month.
About the book :
The blizzard is raging in Alaska. In the heart of the storm, a young boy disappears. It only took a few seconds, the time to tie her shoelaces, for Bess to let go of the child’s hand and lose sight of him. She sets out in search of him, closely followed by the rare inhabitants of this end of the world. A frantic race against death then begins, where each person’s destiny, faced with the elements, is revealed. With this closed session in the heart of nature, Marie Vingtras, with incisive writing, focuses on the intimacy of her characters and, with great finesse, reveals the torments of their souls.
