Honoré Daumier — a tribute by Anne Finlay

From 1 to 30 Nov
Arts

Honoré Daumier’s drawings continue to speak to us through their sharp wit, striking caricatures and vivid portrayals of everyday life. Across hundreds of works, he captured the people, emotions and social realities of 19th-century France with a satirical eye that remains remarkably relevant today.

Through her reproductions of Daumier’s drawings, artist and student at the Institut français d’Ecosse Anne Finlay seeks to bring his enduring humour and incisive social commentary to a new audience.

This exhibition accompanies a Talk by author Jérôme Chantreau on Thursday 12 November, exploring his book L’Affaire de la rue Transnonain and the inspiration drawn from Honoré Daumier’s depictions of killings during the Paris riots.
