★★★★ “The Sorcerer” is full of surprises, intricate mood swings and unfolds gradually, with all its meditativeness, leaving no opportunity for the listener to get bored.” — Jazzist Magazine

Tom Sochas makes his debut appearance at the Institut français d’Écosse presenting some brand new mountain-inspired music recently composed out in the Arctic Circle off the coast of Norway which will feature on his up-coming album, as well as tune from his previous critically acclaimed album, The Sorcerer. He’ll be joined by master bass player Theo Malka-Wishart on bass and the inimitable Filippo Galli on drums. Influenced by the likes of Esbjorn Svennson, Brad Mehldau and Eyelolf Dale, you can expect a blend of delicate contrapuntal melodies and hard-hitting grooves.

Tom Sochas is a Franco-American pianist born and raised in Paris, France and Nairobi, Kenya. Tom’s love of lyrical and melodic music, hard hitting post-bop and his passion for western classical music has led him to developping a unique sound. While he mainly focuses in equal parts on his practice, playing with his own trio and Phoenician Blinds, Tom also composes for film and theatre.
