Once a month, the reading group meets up to discuss a couple of books selected in advance (from classical to contemporary French literature) and discovers other members’ views on them. Meetings take place at the Institut français d’Écosse, usually on the last Tuesday of the month.
About the book:
In the 1930s, La Petite Bonne by Bérénice Pichat is a moving closed-door drama depicting three days of forced cohabitation between a devoted young maid and Blaise, a former pianist turned “gueule cassée” (a severely disfigured war veteran) who has lost a limb, during his wife’s absence.
